Heartburn is described as the sudden release of stomach acids into the esophagus. Common symptoms associated with heartburn are chest pain, bitter taste in the throat, and difficulty swallowing. You may experience heartburn at one point, and you may think you are having a heart attack. But don’t discount the possibility that it is indeed a heart attack since their symptoms are highly interchangeable. If the heartburn doesn’t subside in a couple of minutes, see a doctor right away for proper medical intervention.

An effective heartburn relief is papaya. You can find papaya fruits in your local stores, and they make a good ingredient for your meals. Papaya helps prevent indigestion, which in a way reduces your tendency to develop heartburn. In fact, when you eat papaya during your meals, you are less likely to experience heartburn than when you avoid having a papaya diet altogether. There is also chewable papaya tablets that can help relieve symptoms in a matter of minutes.

Don’t go straight to bed after eating. Lying down is a position that may cause your stomach acids to easily climb through your throat. If you need to lie down because you are feeling dizzy or weak, make sure that your head is raised about nine inches. You can insert a wood block under the head of your bed or put hard pillows underneath.

There are other free heartburn remedies or tips that you can observe, and the best of them is to avoid overeating. When your stomach is full, the small valve connecting your esophagus and stomach weakens and allows acids to transfer easily. Eat in smaller doses as opposed to eating larger amounts of food all at once. Also, avoid wearing tight clothes as they can put pressure on this valve. Keep your body weight fit and trim so that your digestive system can operate smoothly.
